Russel Wright American Modern Coral Hostess Plate

American Modern, manufactured by the Steubenville Pottery of Ohio and introduced in 1938 was Russel Wright's first triumph in remaking American dinnerware for the way people actually lived and ate. It was a landmark in modern design, and all the dinnerware lines which followed it owe something to it.

This is the hostess plate in Coral. It's an oval handled plate with a well to hold a cup.

It's 11.675" long by 10".

Condition: no wear or utensil marks. Two 0.25" chips to the edge on the back.

Mark: impressed Russel Wright Steubenville mark on back.
