Early and Large Dansk JHQ Teak Trivet

Very early in the history of the collaboration between Jens H Qusitgaard and Ted & Martha Nierenberg, in the 1950's, the Dansk trade name did not yet exists. The earliest peppermills and teak products were simply branded "DENMARK JHQ". This is an excellent example of the wares of that period, and a piece that does not appear as part of the later Dansk lines.

It is a simple wooden trivet made from teak, the pieces rabbited and joined together. The edges between the joins are chamfered to prevent damage to the edge, showing the level of fine craftsmanship which went into all Danish Dansk products, but especially these early pieces.

The trivet is 13" square.

Condition: as new, no wear or damage. This came out of a small collection of Danish teak items, some still in their original boxes, which must have been bought or received, displayed and never used. In the photos, the piece has been neither cleaned nor oiled, so it may appear slightly dusty and dry.

Mark: branded DENMARK JHQ on the back, in tiny letters.
