A great, vintage theatrical one-sheet for the second installment in the Shaft trilogy, which was written by Ernest Tidyman, directed by Gordon Parks, Sr, and starred Richard Roundtree. It was released in 1972.
Condition: there's a nick in the right margin at the center fold, and the back of the poster is soiled from storage. Otherwise fine.
This poster (along with many others we are offering) came from the same source: the Erlen Theater here in Philadelphia. The theater was between 18th and 19th on Cheltenham Avenue, at the edge of the city. It opened in 1930 and closed as a theater in 1984. It was a single-screen movie palace (one of the last built in the city) seating 1700 and built in the modern style. At the end of its life -the period from which these posters date- it apparently was hanging on on a steady diet of action/adventure, horror and kung-fu movies.
