Goldscheider USA Mongol Bust

A fine pottery female bust by Goldscheider. This "Mongol Bust" of a beautiful Asiatic woman, was made in the 1950's to appeal to the era's fascination with the exotic.

The "Goldscheider" in question here is the American company, founded by Walter Goldscheider in Trenton in 1938 after his family business in Europe was Nationalized in the early days of WWII. The Goldscheider-Everlast company was in operation until 1952.

The bust is 6.75" tall, 5' wide, and 3" deep.

Condition: all-over crazing, which seems to be universal on these pieces. A minute rough spot on one of the tips of her headdress and a pinhead-sized chip on the edge of the base. Otherwise fine.

Mark: printed Goldscheider USA mark, Goldscheider-Everlast mark. Titled Mongol Bust by H.Liedloff. Impressed shape number 8398 and hand-written decorator's marks.
