Wedgwood Queens Ware Washington, DC Bowl

A large Wedgewood Queensware (creamware) punch bowl manufactured for the jeweler Bailey Banks and Biddle. It is nearly identical to the Philadelphia Bowl, which was designed in 1959, but features images of the nation's capital rather than our fair city.

It is transfer-printed in black, with a fairly simple iconographic programs. The exterior of the bowl features the Washington Monument and Reflecting Pool, the Jefferson Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. These vignettes are separated by clusters of apple blossoms.

This interior center has a large image of the White House. There is also a broad interior border, made up of images of the era flags of the United States, swags, portraits of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D Roosevelt and the phrase "One Nation under God, with liberty and justice for all" from the Pledge of Allegiance.

The bowl is 12" in diameter and 5.5" tall.

Condition: as new, no wear or damage.
