A large blue transferware plate by Royal Doulton, printed on a white pottery blank, commemorating Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns. The center features a portrait of Burns, while the border shows portrait of his greatest characters and titles. In between the two are a band of captions: John Anderson My Jo John / Holy Willie / What Can a Young Lassie / Tom-O-Shanter / Highland Mary / Duncan Gray / The Cotters Saturday night / Here's a Heath to Them That's Awa / Halloween.
The plate is 10.5" in diameter.
Condition: heavily crazed, otherwise fine.
Marked on the back with an impressed Doulton mark and indistinct date code. Printed Royal Doulton Mark dates to between 1902 and 1922.
