Russel Wright Iroquois Casual Nutmeg Brown Two-Quart Casserole

Casual, manufactured by Iroquois China was Russel Wright second great success in dinnerware design. It took the lessons he learned from American Modern and expanded on them. Like the earlier line, Causal was designed for modern, informal dining and designed to be used in a mix-and-match fashion.

This is the small 2-qt covered casserole. This example, with the original pinch handle on the lid, is glazed in the early version of the Nutmeg glaze, which is a rich, fudge brown with very light highlights. It is darker than it appears in the photos.

It's 8.5" in diameter and 3.75" tall.

Condition: a couple of short scratches to the lid (it looks like something was stored stacked on top of this piece). The glaze is thin at the edge of the lid in a couple of spots and sloppy on the dry foot.

Mark: unmarked, which is unusual for this line, but unquestionably Russel Wright.
