Gustavsberg Argenta Vase for Scandinavian American Lines

A fine vintage slab-sided vase by Gustavsberg of Sweden. It is glazed with a beautiful blue flambe glaze which shades to olive green at the edges. The vase is further decorated with three crowns in deposited silver. The silver overlay marks this piece as from their Argenta line

These crowns were the logo of the Swedish-American Lines and this vase was made for them. SAL was the main passenger line between Sweden and the United States for most of the 20th century, catering to both the immigrant and tourist trades. They were formed in 1915 and discontinued passenger service in 1975.

The vase is 5.125" tall, 3" wide and 2.25" deep.

Condition: as new, no wear or damage. The silver line on the surface of the vase in the pictures is a reflection of our tripod.

Mark: impressed Gustavsberg anchor mark, paper Gustavsberg label and printed "Designed for SAL".
