A fine piece of decorated Victorian glass, this biscuit jar was made by the CF Monroe company as part of their Wave Crest Line. It is milk glass with a custard wash. The floral decoration is transfer printed and hand-colored.
The jar also has the sort of Rocco Victorian surface decoration that Wavecrest is known for. This piece is shown on page 166 of the reprint of the CF Monroe catalogs published by the Glass Press in 1999. This piece date to 1895-1905.
The interior of the lid is marked C. F. M. Co. Quadruple Plate.
The jar is 8" tall to the top of the finial and 5/25" square. It is 10.75" tall to the top of the handle.
Condition: there are losses to the silver plate on the metal fittings.
