A fine an unusual piece of Royal Doulton pottery. It is a spittoon (or cuspidor, if you prefer) with a transfer-printed landscape design. I've seen this design used on flambe pieces, but this one is glaze in a similar way, with a beautiful brown glaze that shades to sepia.
The piece is 7" tall and 7.25" in diameter.
Condition is near fine, one minor glaze skip on the interior rim, one spot of roughness to the exterior rim. All-over crazing, which is common on Doulton of this era.
Marked with the Royal Doulton mark surmounted by a lion, which dates this piece to after 1902.
