Wedgwood Portland Blue Jasper Ware Hans Christian Andersen Plate
This plate was almost certainly manufactured in 1975 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Hans Christian Andersen, the famous Danish writer who died in 1875.
The plate is Portland Blue Jasperware with white reliefs. There is a border of flowers, a tablet with the famous story-teller's name and bunch of roses and other flowers and finally, in the center, a 3/4 portrait relief cameo of Andersen. Standing proud of the blue field are the words "In Memory of" and the dates 1805-1875.
The plate is 8.125" in diameter.
Condition is as new, no wear or damage.
Marked on the back with the usual Wedgwood marks.
