Attractive Bavaria Hand Painted "Daisies" 8-5/8" Plate by Pickard Artist "Seidel"
Seidel decorated at the Pickard Studios from 1898--1905 and is well known for his floral pieces and his fine exceptional note to details.
This beautiful Plate, which measures 8-5/8" wide, was decorated on a Bavaria blank somewhere around 1900. As you can see, the artwork is superior with vibrant and life like Daisies on stem and leaf. With a background of a yellow/green, creme yellow, and creme burnt orange , the enhanced shadow leafing gives the stunning Plate an almost 3-D appearance. Seidel, in the Pickard style, has enhanced the richness of the Plate with a heavy and irregular gilded gold outer border. The combination of earth colors and heavy gold gives the Plate an incredible presence which translates into a stunning display piece.
The Plate is is excellent condition and totally damaged free. The gold gilding is between excellent and pristine.
The Plate was decorated on a "Thomas Sevres Bavaria" blank and prominently signed on the front by "Seidel" [See Reed's Pickard Collectors Book for a bio on this great artist]
