Fabulous Lucky Tiger 1920's Barber Shop Advertising Sign
Lucky Tiger barber shop products were introduced in the 1920's and became popular in every small town barber shop. This cardboard advertisement is most likely late 1920's or early 1930's based on the style of the presentation. My guess is that it found a home for many years in a small northern Wisconsin Barber Shop.
The size of the Lucky Tiger piece is 27-1/2" tall and 20" wide.
On condition, please look closely at all the photos. the overall condition for color is very good to excellent, which would leave me believe that it was NOT exposed to sunlight As you can see at both the top and the bottom, small amounts of foxing is evident.....more so at the bottom...nothing serious. Some minor staining and repair to the backside stand-up is evident. Though these blemishes are minor to me, they are noted for description accuracy.
The printer's name has worn off and all that remains is "LITHO. IN U.S.A." in the lower left corner, while in the lower right corner is the letter/number C-16770.
Overall, the piece shows extremely well and the colors are nearly as vivid as the day the piece was printed. The minor blemishes do not diminish the total presentation.
This wonderful piece, with its unique topic and Tiger display, will make an excellent addition for your Barber Shop collection.
