Arthur Van Wicken successfully operated his own Chicago Decorating Studio from 1915--1924 producing high quality hand painted porcelain. His quality work competed with the greatest Studios of the day...Pickard, Donath, Brauer, Stouffer, and Osborne.
This beautiful Plate displays life like "Wild Pink Roses" on stem and leaf against a background of complimentary colors and decor including creme, creme lavender, and creme powder blue, as well as extensive shadow leafing. Fine, hand done, intricate gold stenciling graces the entire inner rim. Heavy gold gilding, in excellent condition, covers the handles and outer rim.
The Plate, which is a nice size 11-1/2" wide, is in very good to excellent condition and shows little or no wear and has no nicks, chips, or other damage. She displays an early "O & E Royal Austria mark and has been prominently signed by the Artist, "VAN"
