This is a fine early 1900's example of a hand painted floral Plate by Donath Studios of Chicago [See extensive section on the worldwide Studio in Reed's Pickard Collectors Book]. The Plate, which measures 8-3/4" wide, has been superbly decorated with large and vibrant "Deep Red Roses" on stem and vine against a complimentary background of creme, creme yellow, forest green, and vibrant sky blue. The outside rim has been gilded adding a rich look to the beautiful Plate. The Plate is in very good condition and is without nicks, chips, or other damage and an insignificant dimple [which is impossible to see unless your nose is right up to it] .The Plate has been decorated and signed by the Artist Harry Griffiths. Griffiths worked for several of the best studios of the day including Pickard...and a bio on him can be found in the Pickard Collectors Book. The Plate displays an early red "Donath Mark" and is signed on the front "Griff". The Plate was decorated on a Haviland blank....and additionally displays the Haviland mark.
