This is a nice example of an early unmarked Bavaria hand painted floral plate. This beauty came out of the Chicago area with a larger group of vintage 1900 hand painted Limoges and Bavaria pieces. It appears to be 1920--30's circa. The Plate, which is 8-1/2' wide, has been decorated on an elaborate cutout mold and displays large life like "Violets" on stem and leaf. The exceptional quality of the decor suggest a Chicago Decorator such as Pickard or one of the many free lancing Pickard Artist decorated the Plate. The Artist has used superior coloring for the background including creme yellow, dark creme yellow, creme burnt orange, and a creme lavender. Add this to the heavy gold outer rim and the Plate just begs to be displayed. The Plate is in very good condition and is without nicks, chips, or damage...with the gold being between excellent and mint. The Plate is Artist signed [see photos]...but I can't quite make out the name.
