Carl Koenig was one of the most prolific and well known decorators of the 19th century. He is the only Artist known to have worked and decorated for the top three Decorator Studios in Chicago during the first half of the early 1900's. He started for the renowned Pickard Studio, decorating for them from 1905--1912. Between 1913--1915 he worked for the Julius Brauer Studio, as well as the Edward Donath Studio. Finally, in 1915 Koenig started his own Decorating Studio; C.F. Koenig Studios [1915--1966] In between running his own Studio, he did a stint decorating for the coveted Yeschek's Ceramic Artcraft Studios.
This simple...but beautiful Platter....which measures 12-1/2" long & 8-7/8" wide, displays large and vibrant "Deep Red Roses" on stem and leaf. Koenig used a shadow leafing background and colors of creme, creme yellow, and a soft creme blue to enhance his creation. Heavy gilded gold outlines the rim of the Platter.
The Platter is in near pristine condition and totally damaged free with the heavy gilded gold also being close to pristine.
The Platter displays an early "Hutschenreuther Selb Bavaria Germany Sylvia" mark. Koenig has signed the front of the Platter, "C.Koenig".
The Platter will make a nice display piece for your hand painted collection. Also see the matching Plate at: Item ID: LA 00960
