This is a lovely Dutch solid silver tobacco box finely engraved in the rococo taste with two scenes - one a sailing scene and the other a farmstead with cattle - all reserved against a scroll and diaper ground within a wiggle work lined edge. The sides are finely reeded and the bottom is plain. There are several marks all denoting this as a Dutch piece, .833 silver content from the first half of the 19th century.
5 in. wide X 3 in. X 1 in deep.
Weight: 121 Grams
Condition: There are some areas inside the to lid which have had silver added to supplement the thickness of the silver where there was engraving. Thee show in photo # 11. There is general wear from use, handling and polishing. The hinge is entirely intact and works well, closes tightly.
