John wrote this book after filming the 1984 movie "Staying Alive" in which he played Tony Manero, which was a follow-up of Saturday Night Fever. In order to play professional dancer Tony Maner he needed four months to get into the best shape of his life to play the part. Along with his personal trainer Dan Isaacson he also had his close friend Sylvester Stallone watching to make sure that everything was going according to plan.
The book has 253 pages filled with hundreds of photos of a fit and trim John Travolta as he goes through all his exercise programs. The book is broken down in three sections, Dance Exercises, Weight Training and Tips on Diet and Health, and warming up.
