1)The first book is titled, The Real Book About Baseball, by Lyman Hopkins with illustrations by Bill Mchale. The book was published and copyrighted in 1951 by Garden City Books of New York. The book has 190 pages broken down into 15 chapters on how to play all positions, the rules and umpires, inside baseball, batting, and base-running, some recent stars, and working your way from the sandlot to the big league.
Each field position has numerous past and present players such as (1951)famous ball players like: Luke Easter, Red Schoendienst, Leo Durocher, Pepper Martin, Dom DiMaggio, Enos Slaughter, Bill Deckey, Jim Hegan, and loads of other greats are mentioned throughout the book with insights on how you should play each position. A very neat book for a youngster who love baseball to read.
*Condition: The front and back covers are in good condition and the inside pages are in very good condition, very clean and bright. *Front and Back Covers: there is rubbing and light wear to front and back, all the outer edges, top and bottom of spine, and all the corners. The spine is solid. *Inside pages: rubbing along the bottom edges of the very last page and inside the back cover.
2)The second book is titled Summer of '49 by David Halberstam dated and copyrighted 1989 and David Halberstam and published by William Morror and Company of New York. The book goes into great detail of the 1949 Pennant Race in which two legendary rivals, the Boston Red Sox and The New York Yankees battle down to a winner-take-all final game of the season. The book has 304 pages with eight pages of black and white photos of each team in action during the season and photos of the winning team celebrating after winning on the final day of the season. This book gives you insight on how much both teams really hated each other on and off the field.
*Condition: The dust jacket is in good- condition, very clean and bright. The front and back covers are in very good condition, very clean and bright. The inside pages are in very good condition, very clean and bright. *Dust Jacket: There is minor chipping and tiny to small tears along the top and bottom edges of the dust jacket. *Front and Back Covers: There is minor surface wear to the front and back covers.
