1959 Peanuts Coloring Book & 1975 Charlie Brown Dictionary
*The first is an early coloring book titled Peanuts Pictures to Color Coloring Book. It was copyrighted in 1959 by United Feature Syndicate Inc., and published by The Saalfield Publishing Company, Made in U.S.A., No. 4523. There is a total of 96 pages and measures 8¼" wide x 10½" long x 3/8" thick. The book is made up of 46 two page stories for a total of 92 pages to color. What's really interesting is that Snoopy's face is long and thin which was later changed to a shorter nose and fuller face.
*Condition of coloring book: The front and back covers are in Good Minus condition and the inside pages are in Very good condition. There is minor wear and 2 tears along the spine, crease marks on the front and back covers, light wear and tiny crease marks at the top and bottom right corners of the front cover and the top and bottom left corners of the back cover, minor chipping along the top and right edges of the front cover and top and left edges of the back cover, and a 1" long x ½" wide piece missing along the spine on the back cover. There is coloring on the second inside page(this is the only page colored), a ¼" tear along the bottom edge of the last inside page, and numbers written with a red marker on the inside of the back cover.
**The second neat item is a colorful Charlie Brown Dictionary by Charles M. Schulz based on The Rainbow Dictionary by Wendell W.Wright, Dean of the School of Education, Indiana University. It has over 580 pictures in full color and 2400 words defined in a very special way by Charlie Brown and his friends. The soft cover book is a First Edition from January 1975, published by Scholastic Book Services, a division of Scholastic Magazines, Inc., by arrangement with Random House, Inc. It measures 7¾" wide x 10¾" long x ¾" thick and has 399 colorful pages that along with Charlie Brown and his friends make learning new words and their definitions so much fun. And if your a grade school teacher, this dictionary could really help the youngsters in your class have fun learning new words and there definitions.
**Condition: The front and back covers are in Good condition and the inside pages are in Very good condition. There is light wear to the spine, very minor wear along all the outer edges, a crease mark at the top and bottom right corners of the front cover and the top and bottom left corners of the back cover, surface scratches and crease marks on the front and back covers, and a 3" x 1¼" spot that is sticky which is probably residue from a label that had been taken off. There is a blue mark on the first inside page, ¼" tear along the right side of the second inside page, a letter "a" is written very neatly in ink on the first dictionary page, a tiny amount of writing in ink is written neatly on the first letter "b" page, and a bird was cut out on one of the letter "b" pages.
Even though these two early Charlie Brown Books are in less than perfect condition, for anyone who is a fan of the late Charles M. Schulz, they will be just wonderful!
