In the 1950's, every little boy and girl couldn't wait for mom to come home from grocery shopping with a new box of cereal to see what was on the back of the box that they could send away for, may be free inside, or see what they could cut out just like this Native Warrior Mask and African Lion Mask. The 1950's was the Golden Age of Cereal Premiums and these two masks are a good example of what kids found on different cereal boxes. Wheaties, Post, General Mills, and Kellogg's cereal boxes had all kinds of cut-out masks on the back of boxes.
Native Warrior: This mask was very carefully cut out most likely as some little boy went around the house scaring his little sister; The mask measures 7" wide from ear to ear and 8 1/8" long from his chin to the top of his head. *Condition: Very good condition; The front of the mask has some paper missing on his hair next to his right ear other then that the front is very clean and in great condition; The back of the mask has surface wear from where the cereal bag stuck to the box.
African Lion: This mask was also carefully cut out; The eyes of the lion have been cut out as will as the lions nose where the child's nose would fit; The mask measures 7" wide from side to side and 8¾" long from the lions chin to the top of its head. *Condition: Good condition; There are light crease marks going down the mask and on the top of the lion's left ear; There are manufactured holes on each side of the mask were string went through to hold the mask on a child's head.
These two Vintage Masks would make a very nice addition to any Premium Collection.
