This is an incredibly beautiful and rare antique 1920's French cornice. The ultimate in old French passementerie! Imagine what a beautiful bolster pillow this would make. It is in excellent condition, sturdy to work with. I so love this exquisite boudoir textile. Measuring about 42" x 14", it is, of course, absolutely gorgeous. A friend thinks the piece may be early Porthault. I'm thinking it must be from one of the 1920's Paris design houses, if not 1920's Porthault, maybe even Callot Soeurs. Embroidery, applique and rare ribbonwork on pink and gray silk. Pink section is overcast with a fine French tulle. Centerpiece is an embroidered basket full of ribbon flowers. Wonderful classical design elements (check out the acanthus framework.) Piece is lined with creamy white cotton or linen, attached to front with hidden hand stitches. Everything is finished to perfection. No stone left unturned in the creation of this fabulous antique piece! Excellent condition! Also listed is a matching table scarf or panel that would make a wonderful accent pillow.
