This is a large monochrome mezzotint within mount depicting the Duchess of Rutland, after the original portrait by Sir Joshua Reynolds. It has become badly foxed over the years, and its claim to interest now lies chiefly in the admittedly fragmentary label which has been salvaged from the print's original framing, claiming the work to be by Richard Smythe, who has signed the print on the lower right-hand border. Print was sold originally by James Connell & Sons of Renfield Street, Glasgow, and subsequently made its way to America, where it has been . an Interesting item with provenance and a history Image 25 x 30 cms
