Victorian Silver Plated English Casket With Locking Lid and Key
This is an absolutely beautiful English 19c silver plated casket. The detail on the metal work is exquisite. I believe the box to have been silver plated over bronze . A magnet does not stick to the metal and it is very solid It is very heavy weighing 5 pounds 6 oz.The casket is footed and has amazing filigree design all over it. There are cherub heads on each corner and on top on the handle. It measures 6.5" long by 4.5" deep and 5" tall. It has a red hard lining on the inside and also on the bottom.
