This is a beautiful antique 19th Century hand coloured engraving of a woman in 3/4 pose. The colors are vibrant. Wonderfully done, exquisite fine detail Housed in a stunning flame mahogany & gilt gold picture frame. I estimate the age of frame and engraving are around the Empire period 1840. The frame is made of flame mahogany veneer with wonderful grain pattern as shown. The inside strip is gold gilt. The size of the frame is 24 by 29 inches. The inside opening is 17 3/4 by 23 inches. The frame is quite wide at around 4 inches. I suspect the picture is hand painted pastels or watercolors or gouache type pigment The woman is very beautiful in a flowing gown and has a full figure There are many hand painted details on the picture. It is on a thick kind of cardboard or board like material. Frame is also wonderful, but there is a couple tiny scuffs and fine age cracks or crazes, and there is one tiny missing veneer piece in lower left hand corner that is 1 inch by 1/4 inch in size. It has been stained to match and is not noticeable unless you look very closely. The glass in frame has been replaced at some time. . This is a very large heavy picture Lovely piece Pride of ownership
