This is a beautiful Georgian Amethyst and Diamond ring. It is 9ct. gold, and the lovely amethyst is surrounded by rose-cut diamonds. The ring is a lady's size 7, and the stones have been refoiled in London. (In Georgian times stones had closed backs so no light could get through; foil was used so the stones would shine. Often, over years, this foil may get water damage, and cause the stones to look very dark.) The ring has a nice, thick shank, with with a lovely, swirling pattern on each side. The ring measure almost 3/4 of an inch , horizonally, and 3/8 of an inch vertically. It is in perfect condition, and the stones really sparkle, due to the refoiling. I date this ring about 1830, or perhaps, even earlier. Note: I don't really don't what the red glare is on the stone, but that red is not present; it is the glare of the sun.
