Rosewood Letter Box, Mother of Pearl Trim, Victorian
What a beautiful Rosewood Letter Box this is. I believe the Rosewood boxes, with Mother of Pearl trim, are my favorite of the boxes. This one is in excellent condition. The trim on the top appears to be the outline of a peacock. The tray inside lifts out. The inside has been covered, and there is felt on the bottom. This piece is circa 1840, and it measures 8 and 3/4 inches East to West, 6 and 1/4 inches North to South, and is 3 and 3/4 inches deep. There is also a beautiful flower design in Mother of Pearl around the keyhole, but I don't have the key.
