This is a lovely, navette shaped brooch. The dealer from whom I bought this said she bought it as gold and tested it, and it is gold filled, or at least the back is. I think the frame is the front is most likely gold. Anyway, we have hairwork, and a wafer with a lady painted in sepia. She is holding something or looking at something, though I'm not sure what it is--perhaps an urn? Anyway, the piece is in excellent condition, and it has a safety chain. It is 1 and 5/8 of an inch North to West, and 3/4 of an inch East to West. This piece is circa 1790, is in excellent condition with a few scratches on the bezel. Here is a chance to get one of these prized pieces at a bargain price. Note: Please forgive the white streaks on the front of the piece; this is merely the reflection of the sunlight. There is no discoloration.
