Portrait Miniature of Gentleman, Victorian
This is a very nice portrait miniature done in water color, ca 1850. I'm not sure of the origin of the uniform. Perhaps it's , Austrian. I did not think it was English, but on the back, someone has written, Sir. William Betham The colors are very vibrant, and the piece is in excellent condition with no paint loss. The piece, framed, measures 6 and 1/2 inches North to South, and 5 and 3/4 inches East to West. The miniature itself measures 3 and 1/4 inches North to South, and 2 and 1/2 inches East to West.Note: A Ruby Lane Customer sent me the information that Sir William Betham was a famous Irish laird. I googled him and learned that he was knighted in 1812,
