Silver Candlesticks/1848

These are wonderful, early, English silver candlesticks. The detail on them is outstanding. They do have some problems, but the damage doesn't deter from their beauty. There is evidence of old solder at the base, and one doesn't stand exactly straight when turned on one side. I've shown this in the 5th photo. It looks pretty straight on the other side, or with a little card underneath, and that's the side I've shown when I've used them, though I'm sure a good silversmith could repair this. They measure 9 and 1/4 inches tall, and 5 inches across the base. They have a beautiful, heavy, flower and leaf pattern, and the hallmarks are still visible and declare them to be British Sterling, made in Sheffield in 1846, by the makers H W & Co. The sovereign's head is also present. These would make such a lovely addition to any holiday table. It is quite rare to find two such early Victorian candlesticks in usable condition.
