Large Antique Green and White Transferware Platter Floral John Meir & Son 1800's

This ironstone 16" x 13" ironstone platter is nice and old! The crown and garter belt mark I.M.&S. identifies this platter as an item from J.M. Greengates Pottery, Tunstall Staffordshire Potteries c. 1837-1897. There is also an impressed mark "real ironstone china". The name of the pattern is "May Flower", a lovely dark green color design of twisted ribbon with stars accented with clusters of flowers with foliage. The thin rim design is a string of beads. There is a repeat of the design in a center medallion. For its age, this 1800's platter is in good condition. No chips or cracks. There is light staining and crazing. This ironstone platter would make a special presentation for serving food or use to display on a wall.
