Two Young Ladies Ambrotype in Case 1800's

This is a crisp and clear Ambrotype image of two girls, probably sisters. Their dresses are very Victorian. The girl on the left is holding a hat. The case measures 2 1/4" x 3". The case is pressed wood covered in paper. The front does have a pressed design. The hook is attached and works to close the case. The spine of the case is in good condition. The clean velvet protector is dark navy blue with no design. The brass frame ,with glass, is a very ornate design with lots of scrolls.

An Ambrotype is a photographic process in which a negative image is formed on collodion-coated glass, then viewed as positive by the inclusion of a black background. Most Ambrotypes were made from 1854 to 1865.
