In 1986-1988, the Franklin Mint issued a series of cat figurines for the Curio Cabinet Cats Collection. Each cat was produced from a different material, in different countries, and reflected various art forms popular through the ages.
This beautiful porcelain cat is done in the Limoges style of 18th century French porcelain. It has 24 karat gold detailing on a dark navy blue background. The camera flash causes some spots in the photos from light reflection.
This particular piece still has the paper label indicating it was crafted in Malaysia and stamped with the Franklin Mint logo FM. The cat measures about 2.25" wide and 1" high. It is in excellent condition with 24 karat gold detailing. It is a beautiful cat -much prettier than it appears in the photos. The insert explaining the history of Limoges is unavailable.
