This beautiful ornate silverplate basket is marked EP J D & S with a trumpet, which stands for Electroplate by James Dixon & Sons. The silversmith company was established in Sheffield, England, in 1806. The bottom is also incised with 1550H and a W.
This gorgeous basket has an intricate incised design. It measures about 10" in diameter across the rim and stands about 8.25" tall with the handle straight up. The base is almost 4.25" in diameter. The piece is in beautiful used condition with some light scratches and one tiny spot of discoloration in the bowl area. I will leave the polishing to the buyer. My photography skills do not do it justice. It is beautiful!
