Lladro Girl with Child Matte Porcelain Figurine #4636

This sweet matte finish porcelain figurine was issued by Lladro in 1970 and retired in 1981, according to the Lladro website. This is one of the early pieces as it has the Lladro mark without the accent which was only used from about 1970-74. The incised A 24 My indicates that is was fired on May 24th. The figurine is in excellent condition with no damage. It has a serene Madonna and child feel to the design with a young girl gazing down adoringly at the infant she is gently cuddling and covering with her wrap. The piece though simple in line has a secondary market value of $275-300 (in 2003) according to The Second Edition Collecting Lladro Identification & Price Guide by Peggy Whiteneck. The piece was sculpted by Juan Huerta, and measures 7¾ " tall. No box or paperwork.
