Lladro made only two series of collector plates after the 1940's. They were a Christmas series and a Mother's Day series. Of the 10 Mother's Day plates, all featured human forms except one. This is the only non-human theme plate which is called "Birds and Chicks". It features a mother bird feeding her babies sitting in a nest in a tree. The 8" plate has a raised bisque center surrounded by a light blue glazed rim trimmed in gold. It comes in it's original presentation box with foam liner. The blue Lladro mark is on the underside. The plate is in excellent condition with no damage. the box has a few light wear marks and some discoloration on the paper liner on the interior of the lid. Collecting Lladro Identification & Price Guide by Peggy Whiteneck lists the secondary market value of this plate as $125-150.
