The UK based Harmony Kingdom began making the Treasure Jest boxes in the early 1990's. They have quickly become highly collectible. The boxes are intricate carvings by master artists made of crushed marble and resin to resemble antique ivory. The Treasure Jests are a humorous line often with secret images or markings that have meaning to artist's life.
This box is "Of The Same Stripe ". According to Harmony Kingdom, "this is the first mother and baby box figurine in the Small Treasure Jest Series. As in many of Peter's earlier pieces, it does not incorporate the hidden mouse, inscriptions, inner carving, or hallmarks." A total of 38,218 boxes were produced for this piece.
The box was originally carved by master carver Peter Calvesbert in 1993, released on 9/1/1993 and retired on 1/5/2001. The dimensions of the piece are 2.72 x 1.61 x 1.89 inches. The model number is TJTI. Of The Same Stripe is referenced in the 9th edition Price Guide to Contemporary Collectibles and Limited editions by Mary L. Sieber. The box figurine is in excellent condition, but unfortunately does not come with the original box or insert.
