For those who love simple clean lines, here's a wonderful vintage Elgin American compact with cobalt blue enameling front and back and gold tone intersecting lines on the front. The compact has two compartments inside along with a mirror in excellent condition. A few light scratches are on the lids. The right side compartment opens to what appears to have been a powder compartment, but the sifter is missing. There is a small piece of the plastic edging which the sifter sat on that is missing, as shown in the photos. There is a floral covered pad which appears to have been used to apply rouge. The left hand side compartment is filled with a vibrant red cream rouge (could possibly be lipstick, but since the pad has red residue on it, I assume it is rouge) which has a slip of clear paper over it. The Elgin American name is engraved at the bottom of the lid over the powder section. The compact measures 2.75" by 2.25". It is 3/8ths of an inch deep. A bit of polishing and this piece will really be a beauty!
