Victorian Reverse Painted Carved Stickpin

Wonderful Victorian stickpin that with reversed carved painted image of a ground bird. This stickpin is rose gold plated. Pin measures 3 inches long and the top measures 3/4 inch diameter. Could the bird be a partridge? There is a hole at the top and bottom of the frame which indicates this stickpin was made from another piece of jewelry.
