Germany, c. 1860-1900. Here are two twin dolls with original blonde mohair wigs and deep blue glass eyes. The dolls have cloth bodies with non-working squeakers and composition lower arms and legs. The legs have elaborate molded stockings and tasseled boots. The dolls have been redressed sometime in their past, I'd say approximately 50-60 years ago judging from the fabrics (the dresses are just pinned closed - no buttons or snaps). They have little matching pins adorning their dress bodices. The wax shoulderheads do have wax loss and cracking. The tips of the boots appear to have been touched up, but it's not very evident without really looking. There also was probably some touch up to the lips. What I love about these girls is their unusual, somewhat grumpy expressions. They have furrowed brows and pouty faces which really give them great appeal. A wonderful pair of early doll and so easy to overlook their age flaws! US Shipping Only.
