In 1883 two brothers, Alfred and Frederick Johnson, purchased a defunct pottery known as Charles Street Works in Hanley, England. By the end of the 1890's Johnson Brothers may have been the largest earthenware manufacturer in the world. The "Holland" Blue Flow China pattern, circa 1900 - 1915, is almost an exact match to the blue onion pattern produced by Meissen and other companies during the same period. The blank has an embossed scallop around the rim and scroll design at both ends of the item. It measures 9 3/4" long, 7 1/4" wide and 1 7/8" deep. The piece is stamped "Holland - Crown Mark - Johnson Bros - England". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; some light utensil marks. A beautiful piece of blue flow.
