Hattie Carnegie was born in 1886 as Henrietta Kanengeiser and immigrated to the United States as a young girl. In 1939 she began marketing jewelry to coordinate with her fashion business established in 1918. This wonderful signed fan-shaped brooch, circa 1950's, consists of over 40 round topaz or root beer rhinestones in various sizes, prong mounted between of gold-tone twisted rope that ends in a dangling cap at the end and streamers of fine chains. The fan is 2" wide and 5" long. Signed "Hattie Carnegie" in an oval cartouche on back-side of fan. Near mint condition. Very graceful and shimmering.
