Ridgways, Bedford Works, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries, was in existence from 1879 - 1920. It was formerly Ridgway, Sparks & Ridgway, and after 1920 continued as Ridgways (Bedford Works) Ltd.
These lovely plates, circa 1891 - 1910 depicts an outdoor oriental scene in the center of the plate, surrounded by six alternating panels of oriental scenes and floral on the wide border. The shape is gently scalloped and trimmed with a narrow gold band. These plates measure 9 5/8" across. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; overall light crazing due to age. Stamped with a reissued older mark "Ridgways - Oriental - England"; this beehive and garden urn stamp originated with William Ridgway in 1830.
