F Morley & Co - Gaudy Ironstone Plate "Aurora" Pattern

The F Morley & Company, Broad Street, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries were in existence from 1845 - 1858. This wonderful gaudy ironstone plate, circa 1850, is the Aurora pattern. Consisting of a dark and medium brown transfer design of scrolls, medallions, flowers and leaves, it is highlighted by hand-decorating in vivid shades of red, green and yellow. Measuring 9" across, it is impressed on the base "F Morley & Co" and stamped in brown "Aurora" and the decorators insignia. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; several light utensil marks and the usual age-related crazing.
