Pickard China - Footed Bowl with Under-Plate
Founded in 1895 in Chicago, Illinois, the Pickard China Company rapidly became one of the premier decorating companies in the country. Originally importing china blanks from European manufacturers until 1938 when they developed their own fine translucent china. This lovely set is decorated with pink flower, blue fleurets, gold and green pendants, with simple borders of gold bands of various widths and gold ball feet on the bowl. The bowl is 4 3/8" across and 2" high; the under-plate is 5 1/4" across. Both carry mark #7, 1912 - 1918, decal over gold maple leaf. The bowl is on a Nippon blank, the plate is unmarked. Neither piece is artist signed. There are no cracks, chips, or repairs on this set; the gold is excellent.
