A fantastic beautiful, historic service plate designed by the Syracuse China Company, New York, for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Used from 1929 to late 1940's.
The plate depicts an image of a Missouri Pacific locomotive in the center with the wide border showing great images of the state flowers of the eleven states the route serviced; Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Mississippi, Nebraska, Illinois, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee and Oklahoma. A black and yellow band surrounds the center and golden tan and black bands trim the edge. Separating the state flower images is a smaller cartouche showing a locomotive coughing a cloud of white smoke. There are two versions of this plate; one with the state flower of Missouri on the top (this one) which was ordered by the Missouri Pacific and the other with the state flower of Texas on the top (rarer) which was ordered by the Texas & Pacific. Stamped on the back "O.P. Co. - Syracuse China". The plate measures 10 1/2" across with no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
