An adorable painting portraying a pair of young gray and white kittens with their first encounter with a grasshopper. Are they thinking that this is a new 'plaything' or perhaps an added lunch treat.
The medium is either acrylic or oil done on heavy artist paper. This could have been a school art class assignment or from a home studio environment. The scene is precious and quite well done in a primitive, folk art style. Note the blue and pink bows the kittens are wearing. Unframed, the image measures 6" X 8" in size. Marked on the back in pencil "Made August 29, 1926 - Sunday" and signed on the front "A. Lilley". The condition is quite good considering it probably was never framed. There are several stains and paint scuffs, with a small hold near the top created by a small nail or thumbtack. You will fall in love with it.
