The Andrew B. Hendryx Co. was founded to manufacture bird cages in 1875. In 1879 the company expanded, moved to New Haven, CT, and became the Andrew B. Hendryx Co. Also well known for quality fishing reels. The company was in existence until the 1960's.
This early Hendryx brass birdcage, circa early 1900's, was originally for a canary or finch. Now, an incredible, historical decor piece ~ or bird cottage. The construction is of brass with original wood swing, wood perch and milk glass feeder dish, marked "Hendryx. The fully functional spring cage door is stamped "Made in U.S.A. - Hendryx - Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. - New Haven, Conn.". The cage bottom which is held in place with three hooks is embossed "Hendryx". Wonderful finial for hanging. The cage base measures 10 3/4" in length, 7 1/2" in width and 11" in height.
