Victorian silver figural napkin rings, circa 1880 -1900, are beautiful and fun to collect. These silver plated works of art are whimsical as well as practical. During the Victorian era, they were a show of status, as well as being functional. Each member of the family, or guest, would have their own figural napkin ring, usually representing their passions or hobbies.
This wonderful figural napkin ring has the figure of a long-tailed bird, perhaps a parakeet, perched on a branch attached to the base which is a full figural leaf. The ring is engraved with beautiful sprays of floral and leaves, bordered on each side by a band of cross-hatch engravings. The base is a full figural leaf embossed in naturalistic detail which is stamped "Roger & Bro Silver Plate". There are no damaged or missing components and the silver plate is in very good condition. Lovely figural napkin ring.
